In 1958, he decided to study design in Tokyo, at the University of Fine Arts. This is how he became interested in fashion and clothing manufacturing. From the 60s, Issey Miyake became an artist in his own right and was firmly determined to revolutionize the world of fashion. To do this, he left Japan and arrived in Paris in 1965. He entered the world of haute couture houses and notably joined Guy Laroche and Givenchy, two brands allowing him to impose his own style. Issey Miyake also confided that his first years in Paris were decisive for him and that they served as a springboard for his future career. Indeed, this is where he draws on the hippie style of 1969 before returning to Japan to create his first collection. There he was revolutionary, creating sewing pieces from any basic material.
